With the recent release of Artizan's first mounted Bengal Cavalry for their Second Afghan War range, Jeff Baumal AKA: Sgt. Guiness asked me how the figures in said range stack up size-wise against various other makers such as Wargames Foundry, Old Glory, Perry, etc.
Since I have a bunch of the Artizan Highlander & Punjabi infantry figures -- sadly all still unpainted -- I told Jeff I'd take some figure comparison pics to send him, which I just did.
Since most of the work is already done, I figured I'd post them here in case anyone else is interested.
Hopefully you can read the company names scrawled in front of the various figures below...

After glancing at the pics I realized the Artizan figure had a much thicker cast-on base than all the other figures. The Artizan figure is bigger than everyone else to begin with but the base thickness added significantly to the height difference, so I used a mix of coins and thin magnetic base bottoms from Litko to try to get the soles of all the miniature feet even on the "ground" and took some more pics...

Finally, here's the same Artizan Highlander Officer next to a Wargames Foundry Darkest Africa British Officer (figures from the "Darkest Africa" range are larger than just about all other Foundry colonials):

ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, AJ, and thank you for taking the time to leave your comment!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful castings. Can't wait to see them painted up. I wish they would make castings like that in 25MM. I put my armies together in the 70s-80s with Ral Partha and Minifigs. The new castings are a bit too big to mix in.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to buy the paints you suggest for painting buildings and scenery but my local craft stores don't carry those paints. I called the company and was told that they are not filling any phone orders for an indefinite time. Can you suggest another paint scheme with different brands of paint for scenery and buildings for me? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
