Colonel James Galbraith, Regimental Colour in hand, alongside Bobbie the regimental dog and some of the other "Last Eleven" survivors of the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment, making their last stand in one of the walled gardens just South of Khig village, a few miles West of the Afghan town of Maiwand.

84: CAPT. SLADE DISPATCHES 6 GHAZIS... THEN FALLS DEAD.*
































*NOTE: In 1880 the real Captain Slade SURVIVED the battle and was later awarded several honors for his courageous and successful efforts to rescue British and Indian wounded and keep the retreating troops in order during the awful retreat to Kandahar that followed.
